Thomas Dear Charged With Murder After Newark Roadside Death

A 20-year-old man named Thomas Dear has been charged with the murder of another man, also named Thomas Dear, aged 38, who died after reportedly suffering a medical emergency and pulling over his vehicle on Lombard Street in Newark. Emergency services responded to the scene on June 16, but the older Thomas Dear was pronounced dead at the roadside. Nottinghamshire Police launched a murder investigation, and the younger Thomas Dear remains in custody, scheduled to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on December 8. Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow stated that extensive inquiries are ongoing to understand the full circumstances surrounding the incident, and the deceased's family is being supported and has requested privacy. The road was cordoned off for over 10 hours during the police investigation. An inquest into the death was opened but suspended pending the criminal trial.
