Police shoot suspect after disturbance at Morgan Hill Safeway
Police in Morgan Hill responded to a disturbance at a Safeway store on East Dunne Avenue early Friday morning, where 40-year-old Shaun Hillman of Van Nuys allegedly attacked another individual. Upon confronting Hillman, officers reported that his actions prompted them to open fire, resulting in Hillman being shot and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Hillman was arrested and faces multiple felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, and resisting arrest. The person attacked by Hillman also sustained injuries, but no officers were harmed during the incident. The Safeway store remains closed pending the ongoing investigation, with management stating full cooperation with authorities. Initial reports incorrectly stated that a person had been killed, but subsequent updates clarified that Hillman is expected to survive.
