Record Russian Drone Attack on Ukraine

On New Year's Eve, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine with 90 Shahed drones, targeting ports and residential neighborhoods. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down 87 of them, though the attacks caused significant damage to infrastructure and residential buildings. At least 30 people were killed in similar attacks just a few days prior. In addition to the drones, Russian forces also attacked various regions in Ukraine with missiles. The aerial assaults resulted in both fatalities and material damage, and a journalist was among the victims. The attacks were met with responses from Ukrainian air defenses, with a total of 51 Shahed UAVs destroyed in various regions of Ukraine.
