Rhode Island Family Welcomes Rare Identical Quadruplets

A Rhode Island couple, Rachel and Marco Vargas, recently welcomed identical quadruplets, a rare occurrence that happens in only about 1 in 11 million pregnancies. The couple learned of the surprising news during a routine ultrasound, which left Rachel in shock. Throughout their challenging pregnancy, they traveled to Phoenix for specialized care due to complications, including twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and a potential heart defect in one of the babies. Despite the risks, Rachel gave birth via cesarean section at 30 weeks and three days gestation, successfully delivering four daughters. Dr. John Elliott, a specialist in high-order multiples, noted the exceptional nature of their case, emphasizing the family's resilience.
