Pakistan, China, Afghanistan Hold 7th Trilateral Talks in Kabul on Regional Cooperation

Foreign ministers from Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan convened in Kabul for the seventh round of the China–Afghanistan–Pakistan Trilateral Dialogue, marking the first formal trilateral meeting in two years and focusing on enhancing political, economic, and regional cooperation. Key topics included Afghanistan's integration into the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the Belt and Road Initiative, counterterrorism efforts against groups like TTP and ISKP, and regional security concerns. China aims to stabilize the region by easing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, while Pakistan seeks to transform Afghanistan into a regional bridge economy linking South and Central Asia. The dialogue also emphasized expanding trade corridors, improving border cooperation, and fostering infrastructure development to address economic challenges and militancy drivers. Concurrently, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was scheduled to visit Islamabad to co-chair the sixth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, underlining the broader strategic engagement between the nations. Additionally, Pakistan and China held their 10th bilateral consultations on arms control, non-proliferation, and disarmament in Beijing, discussing global and regional peace, strategic stability, and cooperation on nuclear technology and outer space.
