UK Tourists Consider Boycott of Europe Over New Rules

UK tourists are being advised to reconsider their travel plans due to new EU regulations, specifically the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) and the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), set to launch on November 10, 2024. This new system will require biometric data collection, such as photographs and fingerprints, which may lead to longer border control queues. A survey by Holiday Extras revealed that 5% of respondents have already altered their plans, with an additional 22% considering doing so to avoid the new requirements. Travel experts recommend alternative accommodations like hostels and home stays to save costs, as package holidays can be expensive, especially for solo travelers. The changes could push more travelers to opt for destinations outside the EU that do not require the additional paperwork. Popular alternatives include countries like Turkey, Morocco, and Cyprus, which could see an increase in UK tourist traffic.
