Texans Lose Pro Bowl WR Stefon Diggs to Patriots on $69 Million Deal
Stefon Diggs has signed a three-year, $69 million contract with the New England Patriots, marking his departure from the Houston Texans, where he played only half a season due to an ACL injury. The Texans had initially acquired Diggs from the Buffalo Bills, intending him to be a one-year rental, and are now making significant roster changes, including the addition of Christian Kirk and other new offensive players. Despite his injury-shortened season, Diggs recorded 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns in just eight games. The Patriots, in dire need of a top receiver, hope Diggs can replicate his previous performance levels with second-year quarterback Drake Maye. While Buffalo Bills fans expressed discontent at Diggs joining a division rival, Texans coach DeMeco Ryans praised Diggs for his leadership and energy during his time with the team. The Texans are also expected to utilize their seven upcoming draft picks to further bolster their roster under new offensive coordinator Nick Caley.
