Sabres Re-sign Bowen Byram to Two-Year $12.5M Deal

The Buffalo Sabres have signed restricted free agent defenseman Bowen Byram to a two-year, $12.5 million contract, avoiding arbitration and locking him in through the 2026-27 season. Byram, 24, had a career year in 2024-25 with seven goals, 38 points, and a plus-11 rating over 82 games while averaging a career-high 22:42 of ice time. Acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in March 2024, Byram has been a key player for the Sabres, forming a strong defensive pairing with Rasmus Dahlin and contributing significantly in all game situations. Drafted fourth overall in 2019 by Colorado, Byram won a Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022 and has accumulated 110 points in 246 NHL games. He also has international experience representing Canada at the World Championship and World Juniors. This new contract reflects the Sabres’ commitment to Byram as a foundational player on their blue line.
