Events Celebrate Black History Month Across Jacksonville, St. Albert, Arkansas, Joplin

As Black History Month begins, various events across the U.S. celebrate African American culture and contributions. In Jacksonville, the 21st annual African American read-in featured students sharing works from prominent Black authors, musicians, and actors at the Jack Amyette Rec Center. Meanwhile, the Central Arkansas Library System hosted its third annual Black Family Expo, promoting the preservation of family history through workshops and a Mobile Memory Lab. In Joplin, a celebration at the public library included performances by storyteller and drummer Kenya Ajanaku, emphasizing the importance of history and culture. Additionally, St. Albert's African Descendent Friendship Club has organized events throughout February to celebrate Black culture, culminating in a Taste of Africa festival. These celebrations collectively honor the achievements of Black communities and aim to educate and inspire future generations.
