Oakland County Substitute Teacher Guilty of Sex Crimes

Timothy Allen Daugherty, a 61-year-old former substitute teacher at Spring Mills Elementary in Oakland County's Huron Valley School District, has been convicted of six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving female students aged 9 to 11. The incidents were first reported to law enforcement in April 2024, resulting in Daugherty's immediate suspension and charges filed in September and October 2024. Prosecutors and law enforcement condemned Daugherty's abuse of authority and praised the victims for coming forward. Officials stated that Daugherty will no longer be able to harm students. Sentencing is set for June 24, with Daugherty facing up to 15 years in prison for each count. Parents plan to sue the school district, alleging it initially ignored their concerns.
