Ledecky Extends Streak, Wins 800m Freestyle in Indy
Katie Ledecky won the 800m freestyle at the 2025 Toyota U.S. Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, posting an 8:05.76—the third-fastest time ever recorded and just 1.64 seconds behind her own world record. She led the race throughout, maintaining world-record pace until the 650m mark. Ledecky now holds the 11 fastest times in the event and has extended her 15-year unbeaten streak in the 800m freestyle. Her victory secures her seventh consecutive appearance at the World Aquatics Championships, a record for a U.S. swimmer, with the 2025 event set for Singapore. The meet also featured strong performances from Torri Huske and Jack Alexy in the 100m freestyle, and Caroline Bricker's upset win over Regan Smith in the 200m butterfly.
