Philip Winchester Joins NCIS: Origins as Mason Franks

Philip Winchester has been cast as Mason Franks on NCIS: Origins and will recur beginning in Season 2’s fourth episode. CBS describes Mason as Mike Franks’ older brother, a “Texas‑tough cowboy” who has fallen on hard times and seeks his estranged brother’s help to save the family ranch. Season 2 moves to an all‑NCIS Tuesday night and premieres Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 9/8c with the episode “The Funky Bunch,” which finds Gibbs and Franks investigating the disappearance of a young Marine and reveals Lala’s fate. Austin Stowell returns as a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Kyle Schmid returns as Mike Franks, Adam Campbell returns as young Ducky, and Mark Harmon serves as narrator and an executive producer. Co‑showrunners say the season will probe the fractious Mike–Mason relationship, and NCIS: Origins will stage its first crossover with flagship NCIS in November.
