Kurt Cobain's MTV Unplugged guitar set for London exhibition
Kurt Cobain's iconic Martin D-18E guitar, which he played during Nirvana's legendary MTV Unplugged performance, will be on display for the first time in London at the Royal College of Music Museum starting June 3, 2025. The exhibition, titled 'Kurt Cobain Unplugged', will also showcase Cobain's famous olive-green mohair cardigan, offering fans a unique glimpse into the influential acoustic set recorded in 1993. The guitar was purchased for over $6 million in 2020 by Australian entrepreneur Peter Freedman, who aims to use the exhibition to support artists worldwide. Freedman expressed his excitement about bringing these historic artifacts together, emphasizing the profound impact of Nirvana's Unplugged performance. Curated by rock journalist Alan di Perna, the exhibition is poised to be a significant moment for music lovers and fans of alternative rock. Tickets for the exhibition will go on sale April 30, 2025.
