Arizona Toddler Drowns as Father Places Sports Bet

In May, three-year-old Trigg Kiser tragically drowned in the family pool while his father, Brady Kiser, was distracted watching an NBA playoff game and placing a $25 bet on Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum. Surveillance footage showed Trigg was unsupervised for over nine minutes and in the water for seven minutes before Brady found him unresponsive and called 911. Brady initially claimed only a few minutes of unsupervised time and stated he was watching his son, but police reports and video evidence contradicted his account. Despite police consideration of child abuse charges, the Maricopa County Attorney's Office declined to prosecute due to lack of evidence.
