Nick Bienz, a 27-year-old Golf Galaxy employee and professional golfer, secured his first PGA Tour start at the Rocket Mortgage Classic after a dramatic 5-for-4 playoff. Bienz, who shot a bogey-free 7-under-65 at The Orchards Golf Club, had to down three beers to calm his nerves while waiting for the final scores. Tied with four others, he battled through an eight-hole playoff, ultimately securing one of the four available spots. Bienz, a former Indiana University-Indianapolis golfer and the 2023 Indiana Open champion, had never before reached a PGA Tour-sanctioned event despite numerous attempts. His journey included a birdie on the final regulation hole and a playoff birdie to clinch his spot. This achievement marks a significant milestone in his professional career.
