Wrong-Way Crash Kills 1, Injures 2 on Miami Palmetto Expressway

A wrong-way crash on the Palmetto Expressway near Okeechobee Road in Miami-Dade early Monday morning resulted in one fatality and two serious injuries. A white Mercedes-Benz SUV was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a southbound white Dodge SUV, causing the Mercedes to overturn. The front passenger of the Mercedes died at the scene, while both drivers were hospitalized with serious injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol closed the southbound Palmetto Expressway for about five hours to investigate the collision. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or announced any charges against the driver responsible for the wrong-way driving. The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with drivers advised to seek alternate routes during the closure.
