Operation Clean Sweep Nets 100+ Arrests, Seizes $365K Drugs, Guns in Philadelphia Region

Operation Clean Sweep is a coordinated law enforcement initiative targeting drug trafficking networks transporting narcotics from Philadelphia to surrounding counties in Pennsylvania. Conducted in September and October, the operation resulted in over 100 arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs, including fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and other substances with an estimated street value exceeding $365,000, as well as 12 illegal firearms. Authorities employed surveillance and traffic stops near Philadelphia's borders to track and disrupt bulk narcotics transport from the Kensington area to Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday emphasized that drug trafficking and related violence are a Commonwealth-wide issue, not confined by municipal boundaries, and highlighted the removal of 50 million doses of fentanyl from the streets so far this year. District Attorneys from the involved counties noted the collaboration as essential for addressing the shared problem of drug distribution across county lines. Some individuals arrested were drug traffickers, while others were people with addiction diverted to treatment, reflecting a comprehensive approach to the crisis.
