Michigan man convicted of murdering wife in front of children

Steven Bryce Wheeler, 31, was convicted of first-degree murder on January 23 for the fatal shooting of his estranged wife, Jordan Wheeler, 33, in their Clinton Township home in October 2023. The jury heard harrowing testimony from the couple's 9-year-old son, who was present during the incident, and listened to a 911 call made by Jordan as she reported the escalating violence. During the call, Wheeler shot his wife five times in the head while she was still on the line, displaying a violent confrontation that culminated in her death. The couple had been in the process of getting divorced, with Jordan living separately with her sister prior to the tragedy. Following the conviction, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido emphasized the deep scars left by domestic violence, particularly on the children involved. Wheeler is scheduled to be sentenced on February 26.
