A three-storey building collapse in Meerut's Zakir Colony resulted in at least 10 deaths and several injuries, with continuous heavy rains cited as the cause. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are conducting ongoing rescue operations, despite challenging weather conditions. District Magistrate Deepak Meena confirmed that 15 people were initially trapped, with 10 fatalities and five survivors, one in critical condition. The building housed a dairy, and animals also perished in the collapse. Relief efforts are underway, with compensation announced for the families of the deceased. The incident is part of broader flooding issues affecting 11 districts in Uttar Pradesh, leading to 17 deaths and significant property damage.
