Mossad Identifies Iranian IRGC General Leading Global Attacks on Jewish Targets Including Australia, Prompting Diplomatic Actions

Israel's Mossad intelligence agency has publicly named Sardar Amar, a senior commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, as the mastermind behind a series of antisemitic terrorist attacks and plots targeting Jewish communities and Israeli interests worldwide, including in Australia, Greece, and Germany. Since October 7, 2023, following Hamas's attack on southern Israel, Iran intensified its global campaign against Jewish targets, with Amar leading a covert network of approximately 11,000 operatives using foreign recruits, criminal intermediaries, and organized crime to carry out arson, vandalism, and planned attacks. Despite the network's extensive operations, many attempts were amateurish and repeatedly foiled by coordinated counterterrorism efforts involving international intelligence and law enforcement agencies. The exposure of Amar’s terror network led to significant diplomatic responses, such as Australia expelling Iran’s ambassador and Germany formally reprimanding theirs, signaling a strong stance against terrorism on their soil. Israeli officials have emphasized that these failures have damaged Iran’s ability to conduct secret operations, forcing Tehran to pay a heavy diplomatic price while continuing to use terrorism as a strategic tool against Israel and Jewish civilians globally. Mossad credits its operations with saving many lives and dismantling dozens of terror channels since the escalation in late 2023.
