Vogt and Murphy Win Managers of the Year
Pat Murphy of the Milwaukee Brewers and Stephen Vogt of the Cleveland Guardians have been named the National and American League Managers of the Year, respectively, for their impressive first seasons. Murphy led the Brewers to a 93-69 record and an NL Central title, overcoming low preseason expectations and significant player losses, including ace Corbin Burnes and All-Star Christian Yelich. Vogt, in his first managerial role, guided the Guardians to a 92-69 record, an AL Central title, and an AL Championship Series appearance, despite losing key pitcher Shane Bieber early in the season. Both managers received a majority of first-place votes, marking the first time since 2015 that two first-year managers have won the award. Murphy is the first Brewers manager to win this award since its inception in 1983, while Vogt, who transitioned from player to manager in two years, is the first to win in his debut season since 2019. Their leadership and strategic management have been credited as key factors in their teams' successes this season.
