Finalists Announced for Ford C. Frick Award
John Sterling, Gary Cohen, and Skip Caray are among the finalists for the 2025 Ford C. Frick Award, which honors excellence in baseball broadcasting. Other holdover finalists include Jacques Doucet, Tom Hamilton, Duane Kuiper, and Ernie Johnson Sr., while new nominees this year are Rene Cardenas and Dave Sims. This marks the third election considering broadcasters from the wild-card era, which began in 1995, with pre-wild card candidates to be evaluated in 2026. The winner will be revealed on December 11 at the winter meetings in Dallas and honored during the Hall's July 26 awards presentation. In addition to the finalists, the selection committee consists of past award winners and broadcast historians. Sterling's nomination comes as he prepares to retire after a notable 36-year career with the Yankees, highlighted by five World Series championships and other memorable moments.
