Warren Buffett Plans $149.7 Billion Charitable Donation

Warren Buffett, the renowned chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, has announced plans to donate 99.5% of his fortune, valued at $149.7 billion, to a charitable trust managed by his children after his death. In a recent letter to shareholders, he designated three potential successor trustees in case his children—Susie, Howard, and Peter—are unable to serve. Buffett has committed to donating an additional $1.14 billion in Berkshire stock to family foundations, bringing his total contributions to over $58 billion since 2006. He emphasized his intention not to create a dynasty, stating that his children will have about a decade to unanimously decide on the charitable purposes for the remaining wealth. The majority of his previous donations have supported the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has received over $43 billion. Despite his substantial philanthropic efforts, Buffett retains a 14.4% stake in Berkshire Hathaway and plans to continue donating shares during his lifetime.
