Italian Ambassador's Wife Injured by Fireworks in Goa
The wife of the Italian ambassador to India, Vincenzo de Luca, Paola Ferri, suffered a head injury due to fireworks set off from a beach-facing resort in Goa. The incident took place on January 1 during New Year celebrations at Ashvem beach. The police registered a complaint on 2 February after Shrinivas Dempo, Honorary Vice Consul of Italy in Goa, filed a complaint. The owner of the resort has been charged under section 338 of the Indian Penal Code, which relates to causing grievous hurt by an act endangering human life.
