Apple Teams with Airlines for Baggage Tracking

Several major airlines, including United Airlines, Air Canada, and Aer Lingus, are integrating Apple’s 'Find My' network to enhance baggage recovery using the newly introduced Share Item Location feature in iOS 18.2. This feature allows passengers to securely share the location of their AirTag or Find My network accessory with airline customer service, streamlining the process of locating lost or delayed baggage. United Airlines has already implemented this feature in their mobile app, providing customers with a seamless way to report and track missing luggage. The integration is expected to improve customer service experiences, as airlines can quickly access precise location data for misplaced bags. Apple plans to expand this feature to an additional 18 airlines, enhancing tracking capabilities for passengers traveling globally. The feature emphasizes user privacy, with location sharing automatically terminating once bags are recovered or expiring after seven days.
