Blast in Quetta Kills 5, Injures 29 at BNP Rally
A suicide blast occurred on Sariab Road near Shahwani Stadium in Quetta during a rally of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), killing at least five people and injuring 29 others. The attack took place in the parking lot after the rally, which was held to observe the death anniversary of party founder Attaullah Mengal. Among the injured were party leaders including former MPA Ahmed Nawaz and Musa Baloch. Security forces quickly cordoned off the area and launched a high-level investigation, with rescue operations underway and the injured receiving treatment at Quetta Civil Hospital. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the blast as a cowardly act by enemies of humanity and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice while providing the best medical care for victims. The incident is part of a broader surge in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces have been conducting operations against militants.
