Tampa International Airport Unveils New Airside D

Tampa International Airport (TPA) has unveiled initial renderings for its new Airside D, the first terminal expansion in nearly two decades, set to open in 2028. The two-level airside will feature 16 gates and is designed to accommodate a projected increase in annual passenger traffic from 25 million to 35 million by 2037. With a budget of approximately $1.5 billion, the project will include amenities such as airline lounges, shopping, and dining options, all designed to enhance the traveler experience. The design phase is currently 15% complete, with potential changes expected before finalization. Positioned between Airside E and the control tower, Airside D aims to improve operational efficiency and passenger flow. Groundbreaking preparations are anticipated to commence later this year.
