Tottenham Appeal Bentancur's Suspension for Racist Remark

Tottenham Hotspur are appealing the seven-match suspension given to midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur for making a racially-insensitive remark about teammate Son Heung-min during a June interview in Uruguay. Bentancur was fined £100,000 and ordered to attend an education program after the FA found his comments constituted an aggravated breach of conduct. Although Bentancur has apologized and Son accepted, stating they are 'brothers' and have moved past the incident, Spurs believe the punishment is severe and are seeking a reduction. The suspension rules Bentancur out of six Premier League matches and a League Cup quarter-final, though he remains eligible for Europa League fixtures. Head coach Ange Postecoglou described Bentancur as an 'outstanding person' and expressed the club's support for him during the suspension period.
