Kara Young won the Tony for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for Purlie Victorious, making her the first Black woman to be nominated three years in a row and winning on her third consecutive nomination. Both actresses received their first Tony wins after years of nominations and outstanding performances on Broadway.
