Kecia Lewis nominated for Tony

Kara Young and Kecia Lewis both made history at the 2024 Tony Awards. Kecia Lewis won the Tony for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for Hell's Kitchen, becoming the first Black actress to win in this category since 2016. Kara Young won the Tony for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for Purlie Victorious, making her the first Black woman to be nominated three years in a row and winning on her third consecutive nomination. Both actresses received their first Tony wins after years of nominations and outstanding performances on Broadway.
