Ron Howard’s upcoming survival thriller film Eden, set to premiere in theaters on August 22, 2025, dramatizes the true story of a group of outsiders who abandon civilization to form a utopian colony on a remote, uninhabited island in the Galapagos. The film, rated R for strong violence, sexual content, graphic nudity, and language, explores how tensions among the settlers escalate into betrayal, violence, and the deaths of half the group. The story is based on historical events involving three groups of exiles, including a Berlin doctor and his lover, a World War I veteran and family, and an Austrian baroness, whose conflicting personalities led to deadly outcomes.
