The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has partnered with Airbus India to establish a global training center focused on aviation and logistics, aiming to transform Assam into a hub for skilled aerospace personnel. The agreement, signed by IIT-Guwahati's Director Prof. Devendra Jalihal and Airbus India President Rémi Maillard, will initially offer short-term courses with trainers and materials provided by Airbus, followed by independent course delivery by IIT faculty. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized that this initiative addresses the skills gap in the region and promotes economic growth in transportation, hospitality, and logistics sectors. The collaboration is aligned with the Government of India’s UDAAN Scheme, supporting socio-economic development. Scholarships will be available for students participating in the training programs, which are expected to enhance the global competitiveness of the northeast's logistics sector. The project will be executed with guidance from the Assam government and other northeastern states.
