Bullet Fired into Chiefs Coach Andy Reid’s Office Misses by 15 Feet

In May 2024, a bullet was fired into Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid's office at the team's practice facility while he was inside, narrowly missing him by about 15 feet. The bullet shattered the office window and blinds before lodging in a wall near Reid's desk, and two additional bullets struck other parts of the building. The Kansas City Police are investigating the incident as an aggravated assault but have found no evidence that it was targeted at Reid or the Chiefs organization. The incident was kept largely under wraps within the organization, with few players and staff aware of the danger Reid faced. In response, the Chiefs installed bulletproof glass in Reid's office and increased security measures including more surveillance and perimeter fencing. Reid, one of the most successful coaches in NFL history, continues to lead the team after securing three Super Bowl titles since 2019.
