Pope Leo XIV Urges Ceasefire, Condemns Gaza Humanitarian Crisis

Pope Leo XIV has repeatedly expressed deep concern about the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasizing that the civilian population is being crushed by hunger and exposed to ongoing violence and death. He has made heartfelt appeals for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages held by Hamas, and full respect for international humanitarian law. The Pope also highlighted the suffering caused by conflicts in southern Syria and the border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, urging all parties to recognize the intrinsic dignity of every human being and to cease all actions violating it. Following the recent Israeli strike on Gaza's only Catholic church, which killed three people sheltering there, Leo condemned the violence and called for peace negotiations.
