14-Year-Old Dead, Teen Injured After E-Bike Collides With School Bus in Dover
A tragic accident in Dover, Delaware, involved a collision between an electric bike carrying two teenagers and a school bus, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old passenger and serious injuries to the 16-year-old operator. The crash occurred around 4 p.m. as the bus, affiliated with the Caesar Rodney School District, was making a right turn onto Royal Grant Way while the e-bike was traveling eastbound on a sidewalk next to the turn lane. The e-bike failed to stop at a posted stop sign for cyclists before entering the intersection and struck the passenger side of the bus. Neither teenager was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The 75-year-old bus driver and the 21 elementary school students on board were unharmed. Authorities closed the road for several hours to investigate and are asking witnesses to come forward with information.
