Virginia Man Arrested After Abandoning Baby in Snow

Darvin Flores Caballeros, a 20-year-old from Virginia, has been arrested in Florida after allegedly attacking the mother of his 13-day-old infant and abandoning the child in the snow in Fairfax County, Virginia. The attack occurred on February 12, where Caballeros allegedly assaulted and strangled the mother, causing her to drop the infant. He then fled with the baby, leaving it in the snow, where it was later found by a good Samaritan. The mother was hospitalized with serious injuries, while Caballeros was caught in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, on February 20 during a felony traffic stop. He faces charges of malicious wounding, strangulation, child endangerment, and more, and is awaiting extradition back to Virginia. Authorities are still investigating the reasons behind his flight to Florida and if he had any assistance there.
