India Releases Players for Irani Cup 2024

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, and Yash Dayal from the Indian Test squad to participate in the Irani Cup, scheduled from October 1-5 in Lucknow. The players were not included in the playing XI for the second Test against Bangladesh, which India is currently leading 1-0. Sarfaraz will play for Mumbai, while Jurel and Dayal will represent the Rest of India. This decision allows the trio to gain valuable match experience after limited opportunities in the ongoing Test series. Additionally, Sarfaraz's brother, Musheer, was expected to play but has been ruled out due to injuries from a recent car accident. The Irani Cup match will feature Mumbai facing the Rest of India, with Ajinkya Rahane and Ruturaj Gaikwad as captains, respectively.
