Fairfield Police Fatally Shoot Armed Man

A 58-year-old man in Fairfield was fatally shot by police during an armed standoff on Friday evening after being accused of harming family members and threatening to burn their home down. The incident began when the man's relatives escaped to a neighbor's house to call for help after he allegedly injured them. When police arrived, they found the man armed with a shotgun and multiple unsecured firearms inside the house. Despite attempts at de-escalation, he pointed a gun at officers from a second-story window, prompting them to return fire. The man retreated inside the home, where he was later found deceased; the cause of death is still under investigation. His relatives were hospitalized for injuries sustained from the man prior to the shooting, and the incident is being investigated by the Solano County District Attorney's Major Crimes Task Force.
