Nike Unveils Powered Amplify Shoes, Mind Line for 2026
Nike has unveiled Project Amplify, a powered footwear system pairing a carbon‑plated running shoe with a rechargeable calf cuff housing a lightweight motor, drive belt and battery developed with robotics partner Dephy. Nike says trials with hundreds of athletes produced roughly 15–20% energy savings for some users, pace improvements to about a 10‑minute mile for slower runners, and up to ~10 km of powered running on a single charge; the shoe can be worn with or without the robotic assist. Amplify is being positioned for everyday joggers, walkers and mobility‑impaired users rather than elite competitors and remains in early testing, with a consumer launch a few years away (reports target around 2028) and pricing/availability undecided. Alongside Amplify, Nike introduced neuroscience‑driven Mind 001/002 models that use underfoot stimulation to engage brain‑body connections and are slated to arrive in January 2026. The product push is part of CEO Elliott Hill’s broader strategy to revive growth as Nike navigates competition and inventory challenges.
