Longtime Big Ten and Mountain West Basketball Official Terry Wymer Dies at 66

Terry Wymer, a respected college basketball official and Executive Director of the Collegiate Officiating Consortium, passed away at age 66. Over his 35 to 38-year career, Wymer primarily officiated Big Ten games and was involved in six Big Ten Tournament championships, 21 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, five Final Fours, and three national championship games. He also served as Coordinator of Officials for the Big Ten and Mountain West, overseeing assignments in multiple conferences including the MAC, Horizon League, Summit League, Big 12, and SEC. Wymer was known for his leadership, integrity, and mentorship, leaving a lasting impact on the officiating community. He was an inductee of the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame and the University of Findlay Hall of Fame, where he also played football and baseball. The Collegiate Officiating Consortium and various organizations expressed deep condolences to his family, highlighting the void his passing leaves in the industry.
