ScotRail launches £50 unlimited family travel pass for October holidays
ScotRail has introduced a £50 Family Pass offering unlimited train travel for up to two adults and four children across Scotland for seven consecutive days during the October 13-20, 2025 school holiday period. The pass aims to make family travel more affordable amid the cost-of-living crisis, encouraging families to explore Scotland by train rather than by car, thus promoting sustainable and convenient travel. The pass is valid after 9:15 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and can be purchased at ScotRail ticket offices or on trains between October 6 and 20. ScotRail managing director Joanne Maguire emphasized the pass's role in making days out easier and more affordable for families, while Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop highlighted its potential to ease financial pressures and incentivize greener travel. This initiative follows ScotRail's efforts to keep fare increases low compared to England and Wales and simplify ticketing by removing Off-Peak tickets. Overall, the Family Pass presents a practical solution for families seeking cost-effective travel options during the school holidays while supporting a greener travel choice.
