Man Shot During Custody Exchange in Washington

A domestic incident escalated dangerously in Kitsap County, Washington, when a 40-year-old estranged husband shot his wife's new boyfriend, 21, in the abdomen after pursuing the couple following a custody swap. The confrontation occurred on October 12, when the couple was at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds, where the woman had just dropped off her son with his father. After the husband began shooting at them, he crashed head-on into their vehicle, leading to a physical altercation in which he shot the boyfriend. A witness intervened, kicking the gun away and preventing further violence until deputies arrived to find the boyfriend restraining the husband in a headlock.
