Bristol Building with Banksy Mural Auctioned

A Bristol building featuring Banksy's early mural, 'The Mild Mild West', is set to be auctioned on November 20 with a guide price of £750,000. The mural, depicting a teddy bear throwing a Molotov cocktail at police, was created following a violent incident in 1999 involving riot police and partygoers. Jim Paine, who assisted Banksy in creating the artwork, reflects on its creation and the artist's meticulous nature. Auctioneer Andrew Morgan anticipates significant interest, noting that the property could appeal to both art collectors and investors, potentially viewing the Banksy mural as a bonus. The building currently consists of rental properties and vacant commercial space, previously rented out to students. In a separate development, the future of the Dug Out youth boxing club in Barton Hill is uncertain due to plans to sell its building, which also features early Banksy artwork.
