Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance Launches Advanced Helicopter

Scottish Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) is set to launch the UK's most advanced air ambulance, the Airbus H145 D3, later this year. This state-of-the-art helicopter will replace the existing EC 135 at SCAA's Aberdeen base and is part of the charity's most significant operational investment in its 12-year history. The H145 D3 will feature enhanced capabilities including night vision technology, greater range, endurance, and the capacity to carry additional clinicians, ensuring timely critical care across Scotland. SCAA Chief Executive David Craig emphasized that this upgrade would significantly enhance their life-saving services, addressing the growing demand for pre-hospital emergency response. The aircraft is currently in production and will undergo a customized aeromedical fit-out before becoming operational. Additionally, a new 10-year contract with aviation partner Babcock will further equip crews with advanced technology for improved operational effectiveness.
