Figure Skating Tribute Planned for D.C. Plane Crash Victims

A tribute event titled 'Legacy on Ice' will be held on March 2 at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. to honor victims of the recent plane crash involving members of the figure skating community. The crash, which occurred on January 29, involved the collision of an Army helicopter and a commercial flight, resulting in the deaths of 67 people, including 28 connected to figure skating. Notable skaters like Brian Boitano, Ilia Malinin, Tara Lipinski, and Kristi Yamaguchi will perform, with all proceeds distributed among the U.S. Figure Skating Family Support Fund and other relief funds. This event is organized by Monumental Sports & Entertainment, U.S. Figure Skating, and other local foundations to provide a platform for healing and remembrance. The event aims to raise $250,000 to support the families of the victims.
