Firefighter Injured in Chicago Furniture Store Blaze

A large fire broke out at Elegant Furniture & Linen on South Michigan Avenue in Roseland around 6 p.m. on Thursday, prompting a response from Chicago fire crews. During firefighting efforts, one firefighter became disoriented and called for help, but was rescued and is in good condition. The fire, believed to have started in the basement, escalated to a 2-11 alarm due to heavy smoke and large flames caused by a flashover of combustible materials. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation. The owner of the store confirmed that he had to escape the flames, while the fire continued to burn well into the evening. Fire department officials stated that additional equipment and manpower were needed to combat the blaze effectively.
