Caregiver Conferences and Resources for Dementia
Several initiatives are underway to support caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The Long Island chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will host a conference on November 8, offering educational workshops and keynote speakers focused on enhancing caregiver skills and resources. Meanwhile, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is organizing an Alzheimer’s Awareness Symposium on November 19, featuring a talk by Dr. Allison Applebaum on caregiver challenges. In Ohio, the Alzheimer’s Association's Castora Family Caregiver Relief Program is providing free in-home care assistance to families in need, allowing caregivers some respite. Additionally, the Region IV Area Agency on Aging is conducting a three-part Dementia Caregiving Workshop starting December 3, aimed at reducing caregiver stress and improving communication with those affected by dementia. All these programs emphasize the importance of support and education for caregivers during National Family Caregivers Month.
