South San Francisco police seized over 5,000 pounds of illegal fireworks from a storage unit on Oyster Point Boulevard on Wednesday, following a tip-off. The fireworks, valued at more than $300,000, were described as 'dangerous' and were collected with the assistance of the South San Francisco Fire Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Bomb Squad. The discovery was made after officers responded to reports of a large quantity of fireworks at the facility around 10 a.m. Authorities are still investigating the ownership and intended use of the seized fireworks. Police have encouraged anyone with information related to the case to contact them. Fortunately, officials stated that there was no immediate risk to the public from the seized materials.
