Father-Son Duo Jailed for Machete Attack in Essex

George Ripley Sr. and George Ripley Jr. have been sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison for viciously attacking their neighbor with a machete and a plank of wood covered in nails over a parking dispute. The assault, which occurred on September 10, 2024, left the victim with permanent life-changing injuries, including severe damage to his hand and head. Both men pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of offensive weapons, while charges of attempted murder were dropped. Prosecutors noted a history of conflicts between the neighbors, with evidence of threats made by Ripley Sr. prior to the attack. During the court proceedings, the Judge condemned disruptive behavior from the public gallery, emphasizing the seriousness of the victim's injuries. The victim, now unable to return to work, has also been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder due to the incident.
