Six injured, including two children, in Hunter Valley car crash
An 18-year-old driver has been charged after allegedly performing burnouts in Abermain, NSW, resulting in a crash that injured six people, including two children. The incident occurred around 12:05 am when the driver lost control of a blue Subaru Liberty, first colliding with parked cars before hitting a group of onlookers at an illegal street racing event. Among the injured, an eight-year-old girl suffered suspected internal injuries, while a 31-year-old woman was seriously hurt. The driver sustained facial injuries from being assaulted by the crowd following the crash and is now facing multiple charges. Police have expressed concern over the presence of young children at such events and have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Assistant Commissioner David Waddell noted that previous incidents in the area had been on their radar, emphasizing the dangers of street racing gatherings.
