Two Crashes Into Fire Trucks on SoCal Freeways
Two separate crashes involving vehicles and fire trucks occurred this week on Southern California freeways. In Claremont, a driver died after rear-ending a fire truck on the 10 Freeway while firefighters responded to an earlier crash, resulting in lane closures for several hours. In Riverside, a firefighter was moderately injured when a car struck a fire engine during a brush fire response on the 60 Freeway, though the driver was uninjured and no arrests were made. Both incidents happened as fire crews were engaged in emergency operations, raising concerns about first responder safety on highways. The identities of the deceased driver and injured firefighter have not been released. Investigations into the causes of both crashes and the Riverside fire are ongoing.
